5 Reasons Why You Haven’t Found Your Perfect Home Sweet Home!

You and your partner have been deciding on a few homes and you can’t come to any unanimous decision. Some homes are beyond your budget, some have lesser space and there are some that look like they needed repairs done yesterday. While factors like work, present money situation, mortgage and family issues hover above you like a coal dark cloud – there are a few folks that just can`t decide because this is probably one of the biggest decisions of their lives.

If you are considering to buying a home, you may have already been to the internet. You probably did all your online and offline searches. So, why is it that you are still facing this wall of questions – seems you and your spouse just aren’t getting the ideal home for your money.

If you are unsure, the most important thing would be to stop the process for a while to re-plan your entire outlook on this process and complement the process by being realistic about many important factors especially about your work location, financials and mortgage. Do not get trapped into having to making a decision instantly.

How long does it take to buy a home from the initial conception to do so? Some say it has taken them less than two to three months and if you`re renting, it may even take less than a week. Alas, for some it has taken more than 6 months and a whole year has passed by and most of the confusion that comes is with the length of time needed for the decisions; since most good homes usually get sold fairly quickly once it’s on the market before you can make up your mind.

Once we’ve established that there are certain reasons why you may not have found your perfect home, we can look at where the grey areas lie and hopefully we can unearth many problems, which are as follows:

Buying Motivation – Are you and your partner really serious about the new home or are you only considering something. Is it tentative? Subliminally maybe you are only hoping for a new home with some adjustments or improvement on your current lifestyle.

Is your current Job or financials good enough for the purchase? Have you considered everything that may have been overlooked? Once this step is crossed, in my opinion you have crossed over to the other side where the dark clouds subside.

Stubbornness on price and budget- You found a perfect home but it’s just a little more than your budget. Did you and the seller get into a little “will of the mind” game? Remember if you are looking for the perfect home, you have to make some room for adjustments. A good buffer in mind for overshooting the budget can be likelihood under these circumstances.

Commitment – Many people said they loved the way some properties looked in the internet and they thought the neighborhoods were good. They were convinced on the goodness of the home but were way too busy to view the home right away, so they delayed the viewing for the weekend or for the next week. A week passed and they just didn’t like the home anymore upon actually entering even the neighborhood. If you live far away from place that you are actually considering living, you need to do some offline work and drive to those areas. You need to balance your online and offline satisfaction and be committed to viewing these homes right away so that you can use your time constructively to focus on much better prospect homes.

The “Perfect” Syndrome – Let’s face it there are thorns to a rose. Once you see past the small things that make you feel uneasy about the home, you will be able to see the home for what it is. It may not be perfect but it just maybe the setting for something close to perfection for you. Remember color on walls can be re-done; floorings and your kitchen can be upgraded… These details can be negotiated with your seller. Unfortunately, no one can carve this perfect home that resides in your mind. Some compromise will be needed unless you are willing to spend a fortune.

Compatibility – If you and your partner always dislike the preference of the other, Oh-Boy! That will be “the” biggest reason why you haven’t found the perfect home. Since you already admitted your partner into your life, I suggest adjusting to your partner’s preferences likes and dislikes first before you actually think of buying a home.
